Abstract

The article studies the relationship of the ancient North African population with the sea and its components, which is as old as the human presence in the region, where the
ancient man practiced the profession of fishing to satisfy his food needs. , as well as some food industries represented by salting fish that were spread along the Mediterranean coast
of the ancient Maghreb.
Archaeological studies have revealed that the ancient Maghreb were proficient in
dyeing purple, especially on the Tunisian coast today, and that fisheries and salting workshops were spread along the Mediterranean coast of the ancient Maghreb.
