The legal framework of the Constitutional Court in Algeria (concept, Structure andSpecialties)

Abstract

The Constitutional Court have formally replaced the Constitutional Council
through a constitution issued on November 1st, 2020 as the highest body that oversees the
extent to which laws are constitutionally monitored, especially the Constitution. And based on the provisions of the 2020’s constitution, the Constitutional Court retains the full powers of the Constitutional Council, in order to ensure the control of institutions,
their public activities and other powers. Therefore, it is necessary to preserve this court and its competencies, and work to implement its provisions.This is to ensure the rights and freedoms of individuals and to uphold constitutional legitimacy.
