This research aims at shedding light on the way to detect, all the characteristics of the modern Arabic lexicography and that through the dictionary called “Metn ellougha” by Ahmed Redah (1953)
is considered as the biggest and largest Arabic dictionary. It also gained a great reputation in the Arab
word especially as it promoted the lexicography both in matter of collection and setting. It has gathered its content from different references. It has also linked between what is classical and what is modern by enclosing all linguistic levels as: Standard, imported, and arabised and so on. This
dictionary has used a simple method in ordering the content so as to be global and updated with all what is contemporary and to answer any researcher’s needs.
