Abstract

This article proposes an analysis of the five years of inspiration of a famous author in world literature
who is Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, the Spanish writer who has been captive for five long years in Algiers, and after having participated in multiple battles against Turks in the Mediterranean Sea spend
part of their lives in Algerian territory, precisely in Algiers as captivity. Our goal in these pages is to emphasize the sources of literary inspiration that have been the main reasons for an influence that remains
to this day the start of research by multiple specialists in universal literature. The city of Algiers was during the expedition of Miguel de Cervantes, as a soldier of the Spanish empire after being wounded in the battle of Lepanto, the beginning of the appearance of some majestic works of Spanish literature. From this starting point we will try to demonstrate the influence of the place on the author in general, the influence of Argel on Cervantes in particular.
